FCC 18: THE RESULTS
Last Saturday saw the turn of FCC 18; that’s right, we’re finally old enough to watch The Terminator and go for a pint at the weekend!
FCC may be all grown up, but we haven’t changed all that much; we’re still committed to showcasing the best established and up-and-coming mixed martial arts talent the UK has to offer… and doing so in style!
We kicked off our 2017 campaign with the return of one of the most stylish fighters in UKMMA; Tim ‘The Experiment’ Wilde. Tim is a multi-time veteran of such illustrious promotions as BAMMA and Cage Warriors, having competed against some of the best fighters in Europe. He earned a career-best victory over UFC veteran Mikael Lebout last September, truly cementing his status as one of the UK’s elite.
On Saturday he was pitted against Ian 'Willy' Williams a familiar face to FCC fans and one of the most consistently well supported fighters to take to our cage.
On a career-best four fight win-streak (with two of those taking place here at FCC) Williams was looking to upset the apple cart and earn his 7th professional victory.
However following a fantastic spinning hook kick in the first round, only usually seen in the likes of a Bruce Lee movie; Wilde made FCC history.
Having already captured an FCC Title at Lightweight, the UTC fighter is now the first fighter in FCC history to hold belts in two weight classes.
We congratulate Tim, and look forward to having him back to defend his title(s) in the near future!
Elsewhere on the card, our amateur division was well represented as usual, with some of the brightest prospects in the country taking the formative steps in their MMA careers under the bright lights at the Macron Stadium.
Topping the amateur bill was a Welterweight Title Fight pitting Team Fulkinazan’s undefeated Callum Mullen against Theophilus Nelson, of Liverpool Vale Tudo.
The bout did not disappoint, a five round barnstormer which saw Mullen take the judges unanimous decision to be crowned the new FCC Welterweight Champ!
